Governor of Puerto Rico reiterates call to Congressional leadership to fulfill their promise of economic development for the Island

(December 19, 2017 - La Fortaleza, San Juan) Governor of Puerto Rico Ricardo Rosselló sent a letter to the majority and minority leaders of the United States Senate and House of Representatives to request the inclusion of amendments related to the tax code that guarantee equal treatment to the American citizens residing in Puerto Rico.

The governor reiterated that Congress itself enacted the PROMESA Act to ensure economic development and fiscal stability, but the unequal treatment towards Puerto Rico in the federal tax reform hinders its purpose.

Governor of Puerto Rico appoints coordinator for energy system restoration effort

(November 22, 2017 - La Fortaleza, San Juan) Governor of Puerto Rico, Ricardo Rosselló, announced today the appointment of engineer Carlos D. Torres as the Single Point of Contact (SPOC) for the rehabilitation process of the electric power system of the Island.

Torres will coordinate the restoration, logistics, and execution efforts as directed by the governor.

Torres—who holds a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering and a Master's degree in Engineering Management—currently works for Edison Electric Institute as the Power Restoration Coordinator (PRC).

Governor of Puerto Rico warns that American citizens residing on the Island need equal treatment in Congress

(November 13, 2017 – Washington, DC) The governor of Puerto Rico, Ricardo Rosselló, urged Congress to consider Puerto Rico in the federal tax reform and to include the Island in the Supplemental Disaster Relief Package that will attend the different natural disasters registered in the nation to ensure equal treatment for American citizens residing on the Island.

Governor Rosselló urges to evacuate flood-prone areas before Hurricane Maria passes through Puerto Rico

18.9.2017

(September 18, 2017 - San Juan) Governor of Puerto Rico, Ricardo Rosselló, declared a state of emergency and activated the National Guard, as the National Hurricane Center issued a hurricane watch for Puerto Rico this morning due to Hurricane Maria.

Additionally, an emergency declaration request was sent to US President Donald J. Trump last night, prior to the passage of the hurricane through the local area.
