(January 12, 2018 - Orlando, Florida) The governor of Puerto Rico, Ricardo Rosselló, met today with the mayor of Orlando, Buddy Dyer, to discuss the work the city has done to welcome Puerto Rican families who arrived there after Hurricane Maria passed through the Island.

The governor detailed the recovery process of Puerto Rico, while expressing his gratitude to the mayor for opening the doors of their schools to the Puerto Rican students who moved to his city.

(January 12, 2018 - Kissimmee, Florida) The governor of Puerto Rico, Ricardo Rosselló, today invited the people of Puerto Rico, who are currently living in the state of Florida, to be an active political force in the United States in favor of the Island.

During the town hall—which took place at the Kissimmee Civic Center—the governor highlighted the importance of Puerto Ricans organizing themselves politically to ensure that Puerto Rico receives fair and equal treatment as other jurisdictions.

(January 12, 2018 - Kissimmee, Florida) The governor of Puerto Rico, Ricardo Rosselló, announced that in order to recruit the best possible talent at the local, national, or international level, a general call has been published to receive applications from candidates interested in directing the Office of the Inspector General.

The purpose of this office will be to ensure that government institutions provide quality services to the general public with transparency and without corruption.

(January 11, 2018 – Washington, DC) The governor of Puerto Rico, Ricardo Rosselló, referred to the Department of Justice, for the corresponding investigation, the alleged announcement by the United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) of materials that were found in a Puerto Rico Electric Power Authority (PREPA) warehouse in Palo Seco that could be used for the restoration of the power grid of the Island.

(January 9, 2018 – Washington, DC) Continuing his efforts in the federal capital, the governor of Puerto Rico, Ricardo Rosselló, met today with Representative Joseph Crowley (D-NY), leader of the Democratic Caucus of the United States House of Representatives.

Later, the governor held a meeting with the leader of the Democratic minority in the US Senate, Chuck Schumer (D-NY).

(January 9, 2018 - Washington, DC) The governor of Puerto Rico, Ricardo Rosselló, met today with the resident commissioner in Washington, Jenniffer González, to continue the efforts of the Puerto Rico Statehood Commission.

Tomorrow, the resident commissioner is expected to present Puerto Rico’s congressional delegation on the floor of the United States House of Representatives.

At the same time, the governor met with the members of the Puerto Rico Statehood Commission.

(January 4, 2018 - La Fortaleza, San Juan) The governor of Puerto Rico, Ricardo Rosselló, turned into law today House Bill 1350 to create the Anti-Corruption Code for the New Puerto Rico.

Rosselló informed that “the Anti-Corruption Code for the New Puerto Rico collects and unifies the public policy of the Government against corruption—as was presented on the Plan for Puerto Rico—that was previously dispersed in multiple special laws.

(January 4, 2018 – La Fortaleza, San Juan) “It has come to light that the United States Attorney General has modified the previous public policy that allowed the states and territories to legislate to make way for the use of medicinal or recreational cannabis.

This change is a setback caused by the lack of awareness of the scientific evidence, which points to the benefits of cannabis to the health of the citizens that suffer some health conditions.

(December 27, 2017 - La Fortaleza) The governor of Puerto Rico, Ricardo Rosselló, held a meeting at La Fortaleza with members of the Puerto Rico Statehood Commission, which defined the offensive that the group will undertake in Washington at the start of the new year.

“The purpose and the commitment of the Commission consist of claiming equal rights through statehood for our Island. The time to start this offensive has arrived and we will proceed on various fronts and political scenarios," the members of the organization indicated in a joint statement.

(December 19, 2017 - La Fortaleza, San Juan) The governor of Puerto Rico, Ricardo Rosselló, met this afternoon with the secretary of the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), Ben Carson; and with the secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, Kirstjen Nielsen, to continue the discussion about the recovery of the Island after the passage of hurricanes Irma and María.

The chief executive took the opportunity to emphasize the delay of the United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) in the work of restoring the electrical system.
