Celebran baja en incendios forestales gracias a la conciencia ciudadana

2 de febrero de 2015 - San Juan - La primera dama, Wilma Pastrana Jiménez, celebró el descenso en la cifra de incendios forestales reportados y atendidos por el Cuerpo de Bomberos de Puerto Rico. Pastrana Jiménez explicó que para el cierre del mes de enero en el 2013 se habían reportado unos 636 casos y en el 2014 para la misma fecha se atendieron 403 incendios forestales. Este año, el mes de enero culminó con sólo 56 incendios y en todos ellos se pudo salvaguardar la integridad y la vida de la ciudadanía, según mencionó.

“La prevención y la seguridad de nuestra gente es un asunto de prioridad para esta administración. El apoyo que podamos ofrecerle al Cuerpo de Bomberos en cualquiera de las gestiones, será determinante en el éxito que sigamos teniendo como País”, dijo la primera dama.

El anuncio de la dramática baja se dio en compañía del Jefe del Cuerpo de Bomberos, Ángel A. Crespo Ortiz y la secretaria del Departamento de Recursos Naturales y Ambientales, Carmen Guerrero, justo al iniciar la nueva temporada de incendios forestales en la Isla. Durante la actividad se presentó la nueva campaña de orientación y prevención de incendios forestales ‘Puerto Rico Frente al Fuego’.

La iniciativa responde a un frente común entre varias agencias estatales y federales para continuar fortaleciendo la conciencia ciudadana y la seguridad entre todas las comunidades. Las ejecuciones del proyecto incluyen un cómic para estudiantes y jóvenes, así como la filmación de un vídeo musical que pueden ser descargados a través de la web en www.prfrentealfuego.com.
