Declaraciones autorizadas del gobernador de Puerto Rico, Ricardo Rosselló Nevares:

(15 de febrero de 2019 – La Fortaleza, San Juan) “Hace unos cuantos meses habíamos comenzado un proceso para prepararnos ante la eventualidad de que los fondos de recuperación de Puerto Rico se pudiesen utilizar para construir el muro.

Contactamos un equipo legal, montamos nuestro Gobierno para prepararnos ante esa eventualidad y para poder tener los argumentos en corte para combatirlo.

Hoy, después de muchas noticias que habían salido —donde se intimaba que los recursos de Puerto Rico, en efecto, se utilizarían para construir este muro— el presidente de los Estados Unidos, Donald J. Trump, establece que no va a interferir con los fondos de recuperación de Puerto Rico como habíamos solicitado.

Mi opinión es que la razón prevaleció; nosotros no estaremos pagando por este muro. Vamos a estar trabajando para reconstruir efectivamente a Puerto Rico.

Es importante que sepan que nos mantendremos vigilantes ante cualquier cambio de postura o cualquier retraso en los fondos de recuperación para Puerto Rico, con nuestro equipo de trabajo y con nuestro equipo legal, para asegurarnos de que esos fondos de recuperación lleguen aquí, donde tienen que llegar”.
