Authorized statement of the governor of Puerto Rico, Ricardo Rosselló:
(November 7, 2017 – La Fortaleza, San Juan) "The representatives of the Financial Oversight and Management Board (FOMB) that appeared before the House Committee on Natural Resources of the United States Congress insist on jeopardizing the necessary resources for the payment of pensions and job stability, just when our people are doing their greatest effort to return to normal after receiving the impact of two catastrophic hurricanes.
During the hearing today, the representatives of the FOMB evidenced ignorance about the recovery process in Puerto Rico, presenting incorrect figures related to the existing conditions on the Island.
I again invite the FOMB to collaborate so that the Government of Puerto Rico, together with the support of the federal Government, facilitates the fastest possible recovery of our Island, instead of conditioning the assistance that corresponds to the American citizens residing in Puerto Rico to the FOMB assuming the administrative role that corresponds to the Government elected by the people of Puerto Rico."
