Suman esfuerzos para incentivar desarrollo de la industria agrícola puertorriqueña

21 de abril de 2015 - Guánica - La iniciativa de StrikeForce incluye proyectos que promuevan el desarrollo económico y la creación de empleos en los cuales se involucran todas las agencias del Departamento de Agricultura Federal (USDA, por sus siglas en inglés), en colaboración con otras agencias federales, agencias del gobierno estatal, organizaciones sin fines de lucro, instituciones educativas, comunidad y grupos privados expresaron hoy el Sr. José Otero, Director de USDA-Rural Development y Presidente del Comité de Alimento y Agricultura de USDA en Puerto Rico junto a la Dra. Myrna Comas Pagán, Secretaria del Departamento de Agricultura y la primera dama del país, Wilma Pastrana Jiménez.

Desde el 2010, a través de veinte estados de Estados Unidos, USDA ha invertido sobre $16.5 billones para crear trabajos, construir casas, alimentar a los niños, ayudar a los agricultores y conservar los recursos naturales.

En este año 2015, la iniciativa StrikeForce se ha ampliado para incluir a Puerto Rico y USDA está comprometido con el futuro económico de Puerto Rico, lo cual contribuirá al plan de seguridad alimentaria del Departamento de Agricultura.

Mediante las agencias de USDA: Farm Service Agency, Food and Nutrition Service, Natural Resources Conservation Service and Rural Development, los individuos y las comunidades pueden beneficiarse de los programas disponibles de asistencia técnica y económica.

Los representantes de USDA de Estados Unidos serán Max Finberg, Director de la Iniciativa StrikeForce; Patricia Dombrosky, Administradora de Food and Nutrition Service en la Región del medio Atlántico; Elvis Córdova, representante de USDA en el Grupo de Trabajo de la Casa Blanca para Puerto Rico y Sam Rikkers, Sub-Administrador de Rural Business Service.
