Secretario de la Gobernación comprometido con SER de Puerto Rico

(20 de abril de 2017-San Juan) El secretario de la gobernación, William Villafañe, visitó hoy las facilidades de la Sociedad de Educación y Rehabilitación de PR (SER), para conocer sus necesidades y ayudar a garantizar los servicios que ofrece la institución.

Villafañe, estuvo acompañado de la presidenta de SER, doctora Nilda Morales, quien destacó que los niños y jóvenes que reciben los servicios se desarrollan con la preparación y las herramientas necesarias para hacer su aportación a la Isla.

"Esta visita ha sido una experiencia extraordinaria para presenciar de primera mano los servicios que en SER se ofrecen. Además, estoy reafirmando el compromiso de esta administración de servir como facilitador y aliado en este tipo de servicios", expresó el Secretario.

La labor de SER de PR es proveer herramientas y servicios a personas con discapacidad y autismo para que tengan igual oportunidad de vivir, aprender, trabajar y recrearse en sus comunidades, además de desarrollar al máximo su potencial de forma independiente, productiva, participativa y lograr la autosuficiencia. El modelo educativo de SER es inclusivo, integra a estudiantes con discapacidad, autismo y típicos a una corriente regular exponiéndolos a diferentes experiencias educativas. Esto hace posible que los alumnos puedan graduarse, entrar a la universidad y unirse a la fuerza laboral.

Villafañe, añadió que “toda institución que aporte al desarrollo y capacitación de nuestros niños y jóvenes, contará con el apoyo del Gobierno”.
