Reafirma compromiso con la inclusión y visibilidad de la diversidad funcional

3 de junio de 2015 – Bayamón – La primera dama, Wilma Pastrana Jiménez, visitó el Centro de Desarrollo Habilitativo en el Municipio de Bayamón como parte de la inclusión y seguimiento a la prestación de servicios de desarrollo y salud que recibe la población de personas con diversidad funcional en la Isla.

“Es nuestro deber que cada uno de estos ciudadanos y ciudadanas reciba la mejor atención, que pueda ayudar a garantizar su máximo potencial. Es una labor muy importante y necesaria por el bien de nuestra gente. Por eso queremos seguir dando a conocer lo mejor de este legado de amor que dejan estos servidores y servidoras a nuestras personas con diversidad funcional”, sostuvo Pastrana Jiménez.

El centro pertenece a la División de Servicios a la Población con Retardación Mental del Departamento de Salud y ofrece atención en el desarrollo de actividades que fomentan y estimulan la adquisición de destrezas y habilidades para ejercer tareas en el entorno diario. El objetivo final es que el participante pueda integrarse a la comunidad de forma exitosa.

“Tenemos que dejar de ver lo que muchos conocen como una discapacidad para aprender a ver lo que realmente es una oportunidad para estas personas que tienen muchos talentos y capacidades”, afirmó la primera dama, quien estuvo en compañía de la secretaria del Departamento de Salud, Dra. Ana Ríus Armendáriz.
