Primera Dama destaca logros en cumbre contra obesidad infantil

28 de octubre de 2013 - San Juan - La primera dama, Wilma Pastrana Jiménez, destacó los logros alcanzados a través de las iniciativas conocidas como Proyectos de Vida, que buscan mejorar la calidad de vida de la niñez puertorriqueña y de las personas con necesidades especiales.

“En sólo 8 meses, hemos logrado impactar más de 30 municipios en todas las regiones educativas de la Isla durante nuestras visitas a las escuelas. El interés por la siembra también comenzó a calar entre las comunidades gracias a un acuerdo colaborativo entre el Departamento de la Vivienda, el Departamento de Agricultura y el Departamento del Trabajo. El acuerdo establece que los huertos comunitarios serán ubicados en varias comunidades del país para fomentar la autogestión y la creación de microempresas. Así, promovemos el desarrollo económico de nuestras comunidades”, señaló.

Las expresiones de Pastrana Jiménez se dieron durante la Conferencia de Capacitación sobre Prevención de sobrepeso y obesidad infantil en países de América Latina y el Caribe que reúne en la isla a importantes delegados y salubristas de Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, México, Aruba y República Dominicana.

La cumbre de capacitación se extenderá hasta el próximo jueves, 31 de octubre.
