Gobernador viaja a la capital federal para retomar su agenda en el Congreso

7 de junio de 2016 - San Juan - El gobernador Alejandro García Padilla partió hacia Washington, D.C. donde continuará los esfuerzos en el Congreso de Estados Unidos para que se provea a Puerto Rico las herramientas necesarias para reestructurar la deuda pública.

Las gestiones del primer mandatario van dirigidas a la búsqueda de un trato justo e igualitario para la isla. La administración de García Padilla ha sido enfática en que el proyecto PROMESA, tal y como está redactado, requiere enmiendas, ya que contiene una disposición que establece una junta de control con poderes excesivos.

Sin embargo, reconoce que hay componentes claves de la medida que nos ayudarán a atender la insolvencia de nuestro país, proteger los servicios esenciales de los puertorriqueños y hacer crecer nuestra economía.

García Padilla regresará a la isla el próximo jueves, 9 de junio de 2016. El secretario de Estado, Víctor Suárez Meléndez, fungirá como gobernador interino.
