Gobernador declara estado de emergencia en Lares

8 de mayo de 2013 – La Fortaleza - El gobernador, Alejandro García Padilla, firmó una orden ejecutiva para declarar al Municipio de Lares en estado de emergencia, como consecuencia  de las lluvias fuertes que azotaron la zona durante la semana pasada.

El decreto firmado por el gobernador tiene como principal objetivo tomar todas las medidas necesarias para proteger la vida, seguridad y propiedad de las personas, y lograr la más pronta estabilización de los servicios a los ciudadanos, industrias, negocios y entidades gubernamentales del área.

Por lo tanto, la Orden Ejecutiva 2013-042 dispone que “se le ordena al Oficial de Enlace Estatal que proceda con la coordinación necesaria para aceptar y utilizar la asistencia prestada del gobierno de Estados Unidos, en respuesta a las peticiones generadas por el Gobierno del Estado Libre Asociado de Puerto Rico”.

Según trascendió, las lluvias durante el periodo del 8 al 13 de mayo causaron inundaciones y deslizamientos que, a su vez, ocasionaron daños a estructuras públicas y privadas en dicho municipio.
