Gobernador convierte en ley reorganización del Departamento de Desarrollo Económico y Comercio

3 de octubre de 2014 – La Fortaleza – El gobernador interino, David Bernier, convirtió en ley el proyecto de la Cámara 1898 cuyo propósito es integrar los servicios y funciones de la Corporación para el Desarrollo de las Artes, Ciencias e Industria Cinematográfica, la Oficina de Asuntos de la Juventud (OAJ) y la Administración de Desarrollo Laboral (ADL), al Departamento de Desarrollo Económico y Comercio (DDEC) para optimizar el nivel de eficiencia de la gestión gubernamental, así como la agilización de los procesos de prestación de servicios.

El mismo fue presentado como proyecto de administración por el gobernador Alejandro García Padilla como parte de su esfuerzo de transformación y reestructuración gubernamental dirigido a lograr mayor agilidad en el gobierno, mayor costo eficiencia y a reducir el gasto público; a la vez que busca mejorar la calidad de los servicios que nuestras entidades públicas ofrecen a nuestros constituyentes.

La nueva ley tomó en consideración las funciones, propósitos y la visión de la Corporación de Cine, la OAJ y la ADL, para la creación de empleos y promoción del desarrollo económico. Ahora, estas entidades y su personal trabajaran para el DDEC en el Programa de Desarrollo de la Industria Cinematográfica, el Programa de Desarrollo de la Juventud y el Programa de Desarrollo y Adiestramiento de la Fuerza Laboral de Puerto Rico, según corresponda. Con esta consolidación se busca maximizar los recursos disponibles dentro de la situación fiscal que enfrenta el gobierno.
